1. Sugar is a Drug
Though not officially classified as a drug, such as cocaine or heroine, sugar is more addictive than cocaine, and feeds the same pleasure pathway in your brain as cocaine does.
Though it may not be officially classified as a drug, that’s exactly what it is.
Cocaine is made by taking a plant and processing it down into a white powder. Sound familiar … that’s exactly what they do to make sugar as well.
When given the choice of cocaine or sugar, mice choose sugar. Then, taking mice and turning them into cocaine addicts, they once again placed sugar and cocaine in front of them. And they still choose sugar!
Whether you think you are addicted to it or not, if you eat the western diet, you most likely have sugar intakes higher than what is deemed healthy.
Bottom line, the more sugar you eat, the more you want.
2. Brain Power or Not:
What does lack of exercise, smoking, drugs, alcohol, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, eating the sugar-laden standard American diet have in common?
They all drastically increase the risk for Alzheimer’s disease.
Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words: if you want a healthy brain then your sugar habit has to go.
3. Sugar Contributes to Obesity and Shrinks Your Brain:
Take another vivid look at your brain, only this time it’s what obesity does to it, and why getting your sugar habit under control is vitally important.
Excess weight and being obese, causes your brain to shrink in size … less brain power.
4. Sugar is Not a Beauty Nutrient:
Sugar (glucose) sticks to protein and collagen and destroys it. In other words, it speeds up the aging process and causes wrinkles.
God created alot of skin friendly, beauty foods, but processed and artificial sweeteners are not on the beauty list … harmful sugar, includes not only candy and desserts, but also pasta, rice, and bread, including brown rice and wheat (it all turns to sugar).
5. Fructose, a Demon in Disguise
Fructose is the worse sugar of all. In fact, what sugar does to your skin and organs, fructose will do 7 times faster.
Every cell in the body, including your brain, utilizes glucose and burns it up immediately. You liver only breaks down about 20% of glucose intake.
On the other hand, fructose goes straight to your liver and is toxic to your liver. The metabolic breakdown of fructose rests upon the liver.
Where glucose is used for energy, fructose is turned into fat. It will cause a fatty liver, and fat to develop around other organs. It also promotes a dangerous kind of fat, adipose fat … fat that collects around your abdominal area which puts you at greater risk of cardiovascular disease.
A person can be thin on the outside but fat on the inside, and fructose is one of those determining factors.
The next time you hear someone say that agave is a health food or good sugar, understand that agave is 80-90% fructose!
Don’t be fooled by thinking you are doing something healthy for yourself or your children when you see a product sweetened with fruit concentrate … not a good idea.
Apple juice, along with so many other fruit juices are deadly … it’s like mainlining fructose. Don’t give these to your kids, and tell your school to stop them as well.
God put fructose in fruit, and when eaten in its original whole form, it contains fiber, fat and even some protein, all nutrients that slowly release sugar into the body.
But when used on its own, fructose will make you fat, even more so than consuming fat itself.
The body needs sugar but NOT in the huge amounts or forms we most commonly consume.
Bottom line, a high fructose diet will increase your risk of obesity, diabetes, elevated bad cholesterol, liver disease, elevated blood pressure, insulin resistance, gout, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and cancer.
