Sweet Chili Sauce Recipe
I love to have some heat in recipes, especially when it comes to salsa and sauces, but I must admit, this sweet chili sauce took me by surprise. I first discovered it when someone gave me a few sweet chili coconut chips to sample. I am a lover of coconut, and combined with this sauce, oh my.
Sweet Chili Sauce Recipe
Equipment Needed: High Speed Blender
Yield: 1 cup
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup large dried chilies (like California or Anaheim variety), seeded and soaked for 1 hour (open chilies, remove seeds and cut or chop into chucks, then soak)
- 1/2 cup red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 1/4 cup coconut nectar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 3/4 tablespoon ginger, finely grated (use microplane to make it easier)
- 2 teaspoons tamari
- 1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dulse powder (or kelp powder)
- 1 teaspoon garlic puree (use microplane for ease)
- 1/4 teaspoon Himalayan salt
Preparation Steps:
1. Using a high speed blender, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth.
2. Store in sealed glass jar, and refrigerate.
